Do Now: Find your seats and ask a neighbor about Universal Topics/Themes - be prepared to share with the class -2 min.
Agenda:
> Turn in Summer Journals
> 30 seconds to introduce your Universal Topics/Themes (aka UT) Partners
> Supplies - interactive notebook (you select style you like), pens/pencils, colored pencils, highlighters
> Folders/Planners
> Rando Longo Momo
Target Practice:
> Level One = Fist to 5 - You could explain UT's to another student
> Level Two = Fist to 10 - You could explain UT's as they relate to our summer readings to another student
> Spend no more than 40 minutes writing an essay comparing/contrasting UT's in your summer readings. Write only in pen on the front of the paper. Create a Works Cited if necessary.
> Prepare for a full battery of MD and IHOS Socratic Seminar and Essay Exams next week
Optional: Research/read a major literary critic's review of symbolism in Moby Dick and find a way to prove your efforts/knowledge
(the challenge is to find a true literary critic and not some cheesy blogger/study guide)
